The de Lestonnac family owned the estate until Olive de Lestonnac's death in 1664. It was then bequeathed to the Lazarist monks, a missionary community founded by St Vincent de Paul. During the French Revolution, it was seized and sold at auction in 1792, subsequently passing through a number of hands until it was purchased by Frédéric Otto Woltner in 1919. This renowned wine merchant introduced groundbreaking processes for the era, such as glass-lined steel fermentation vats. When his descendants sold the property in 1983, it was immediately purchased by the Dillon family, who had owned Château Haut-Brion since 1935.
