Deep amber colour with greenish reflections. In the nose it has notes of rum, brandy, varnish, toast (smoked wood), molasses, caramel, chocolate, tea and roasted almonds. In the mouth it is a full-bodied wine, perfectly structured, clear, complex, exuberant and highly concentrated. This Boal 1986 has a great complexity with a long and elegant finish, with notes of dried fruit, spices, tobacco, black tea and balsam. The acidity and sweetness are well balanced.
This Frasqueira, with the seal of H.M. Borges, has been gently aged in the arms of the subtropical climate of the city of Funchal, for over 30 years in a centenary oak cask belonging to the Borges company. This medium sweet wine, from the 1986 Boal vintage, is the result of the meticulous winemaking of Jorge Borges Gonçalves and Ivo Couto, made even more special by the casks acquired by the company and the strategic location of the H.M. Borges facilities. The Latada (Pérgola) grapes, harvested by hand, were carefully selected, destemmed and fermented without the skins.
