Dom Pérignon champagne is named after Pierre Pérignon, a monk and procurator of Hautvillers Abbey in 1668, who was known as Dom Pérignon. According to legend, he discovered the method now known as the champenoise method. Interestingly, he taught this method to the Benedictine monk Thierry Ruinart in 1669, enabling him to establish the first Champagne House in 1729. Vincent Chaperon succeeded Richard Geoffroy as Cellar Master at Dom Pérignon on 1 January 2019.
