Nestled in the heart of Vila Verde, at Quinta do Paço, Passo de Gigante emerges as a singular venture, born from the enduring friendship of Rui Oliveira and João Pires - two visionary souls deeply enamoured with the land. Their shared passion led them to refurbish the ancestral family winery and vineyard, driven by a singular ambition: to epitomise the essence of the Vinhos Verdes region through their wines. With aspirations to convert the aged cellar into a veritable winemaking laboratory, Rui and João embark on a journey of experimentation and innovation.
Their odyssey commences amidst the vineyards, where time-honoured grape varieties - Alvarinho, Arinto, Loureiro, and Trajadura for whites, alongside Vinhão, Padeiro de Basto, and Touriga Nacional for reds - thrive in the rugged, granite-laden soils of the Minho region.  

What truly distinguishes these companions is their steadfast conviction that every stride, regardless of its scale, propels them closer to their vision of crafting "giant wines". Thus, Passo de Gigante - aptly translating to "Giant Step" - embodies their unwavering commitment to transcending boundaries and realising their vinous aspirations.
