The João Tavares Da Pina Terra de Tavares Tinto 2002 red wine is crafted from a blend of Jaen (60%) and Touriga Nacional (40%) grapes, cultivated in clay-granitic soil. After harvesting, the grapes undergo a maceration period of one week to extract color, flavor, and tannins.
Following maceration, the wine is aged for six months in stainless steel tanks, allowing it to develop its initial character and complexity. Subsequently, it spends two years maturing in old 600-liter oak barrels, where it further refines its structure and gains additional depth of flavor.
This meticulous aging process results in a wine that balances the bold characteristics of Jaen and Touriga Nacional with the subtle influence of oak, culminating in a harmonious and well-rounded expression of the Terra de Tavares terroir.
