Bollinger's La Grande Année 2014 is made using grapes from the finest terroirs in Champagne, which are classified as Premiers and Grands Crus. In keeping with tradition, Pinot Noir is the dominant grape variety in this blend, accounting for 61% (mainly from Aÿ and Verzenay). This is complemented by 39% Chardonnay, mainly from Chouilly, Oiry, Cramant and Mesnil-sur-Oger.
This cuvée embodies the expertise of the Bollinger house. Vinification is carried out exclusively in small oak barrels aged on average 20 years and maintained in the house's own cooperage. Bollinger has a stock of over 3,500 barrels and even employs a Meilleur Ouvrier de France cooper on a permanent basis. Riddling and disgorging are two operations that take place after the bottles have been aged under a cork stopper and are carried out entirely by hand. This long ageing process is one of the keys to the Bollinger style.
Bollinger's Grande Année 2014 boasts a deep golden colour that reflects the wine's maturity.
