The bouquet is succinct, not powerful, but much more refined and discreet. It gradually unfolds to reveal subtle notes of sea air and the ocean. The palate is initially very subtle and develops slowly. It is wonderfully balanced with fine tannins and is quite linear and structured, building gently to a finish with a pleasant salinity that continues the marine theme. Note: I tasted this wine again several hours later because it was so closed initially, but it ended up opening up, which is atypical for this Pomerol. It is a wonderful Petrus, but it will improve with bottle ageing and decanting.
