The Extra Brut Champagne by Laherte Frères is a rare and refined expression of the Petit Meslier grape variety, grown in the heart of Champagne in Chavot. It is produced entirely from the Petit Meslier grape variety, which is renowned for its distinctiveness and elegance. The vineyard is cultivated on clayey-loamy soils covering a layer of soft chalk, contributing to the careful blend of different harvests with approximately 40% reserve wines. This Champagne reflects the winery's commitment to respecting nature and applying ecological methods.
The grapes are harvested by hand at the peak of maturity and undergo traditional pressing, after which the must is transferred to the barrels by gravity. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in a barrique, enriched by a few bâtonnage, and is completed by malolactic fermentation. Refinement on the yeasts continues for six months, culminating in manual disgorgement to help preserve the wine's integrity and purity.
This champagne is a pale yellow colour with a fine, persistent effervescence. On the nose, aromas of white flowers and citrus fruits open up, enriched by vegetal notes and hints of bread crust, inviting you to taste it. On the palate, it reveals a dominant freshness with pronounced minerality and hints of citrus and exotic fruits.
It is an ideal accompaniment to starters and main courses based on fish, white meats, vegetables and fresh cheeses. It is an excellent choice for special occasions or for adding a touch of elegance and uniqueness to an everyday meal.
