Pét-Nat stands as one of the latest ventures for the brand. Crafted exclusively from 100% Alvarinho grapes in a traditional manner, this natural sparkling wine boasts no added sulphites, preservatives, or the typical processes of filtration, disgorgement, and sugar infusion. Its fermentation culminates within the bottle, sealed with a metal capsule.
With a 12% alcohol content, Pet-erna distinguishes itself with a cloudier appearance compared to conventional sparkling wines, owing to its natural sediment. The result is a beverage with more intricate and nuanced flavours.
Perfect for standalone sipping or paired with roasts and grilled meats, it's recommended to enjoy Pet-erna at a temperature of 10-11ºC.
Situated in Quinta da Carvalheira at the heart of the Paderne parish, near Melgaço, Carlos Alberto Codesso's Dona Paterna winery has been cultivating Alvarinho grapes since 1974. The family ventured into crafting and bottling their own wines under the Dona Paterna label in 1990.
Spanning 15.5 hectares, Carlos Codesso's Alvarinho vines flourish in granite soils on gentle south-facing slopes, optimising sun exposure for enhanced maturation. Operating within a contemporary winery equipped with cutting-edge technology for producing quality white wines, the Alvarinho grapes undergo meticulous treatment to extract their maximum flavour and aromatic potential. Renowned winemaker Fernando Moura, a seasoned and accredited technician in the region, provides oenological expertise and support.
