Marie-Courtin Efflorescence Extra Brut is a biodynamic sparkling wine produced by Marie Courtin from Pinot Noir grapes grown in the Champagne region of France under the AOC Champagne appellation.
Founded by Dominique Moreau in 2005, the Marie Courtin winery is named in honour of his grandmother and is located in the village of Polisot on the Côte des Bars in the south of Champagne. The small, biodynamically cultivated plots highlight low yields and Kimmeridgian soils, and the wines are bottled without the addition of any products, resulting in pure champagnes full of minerality.
Marie Courtin Concordance Extra Brut is a cuvée from a single plot spanning approximately two hectares. The vines, which are 35 to 40 years old on average, are planted in Kimmeridgian clay and limestone soil. Marie Courtin cultivates her land according to biodynamic principles and harvests manually at the optimal moment of ripeness. Marie Courtin Concordance Extra Brut is a sparkling wine made using the traditional method. It first ferments in used oak barrels with indigenous yeasts. After the second fermentation in the bottle with natural yeasts, it is aged for three years before disgorgement. Concordance is a small-scale biodynamic production, and the name refers to 'perpetual evolution. The result is a champagne with great power and ageing potential.
