2020 Chateau Mouton Rothschild Pauillac

Château Mouton-Rothschild's great wines are made from the best vines planted on the 'Plateau de Mouton', part of the estate's 90 hectares. Their root systems are able to penetrate the deep gravel soils. As in Pauillac, Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the blend. Depending on the vintage, up to 80% is Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and a touch of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The grapes are harvested by hand. Each bunch is examined with a fine-toothed comb in the vineyard and then in the cellar. After destemming, the grapes are placed in vats without going through the press. Each vat is of a different size, corresponding to the different plots of the château.
