1994 Barbeito Frasqueira Verdelho Magnum

This Frasqueira is made from a blend of two wines, both from the same vineyard, but with completely different ageing processes. During the 1994 harvest, some of the Verdelho must was transported from Seixal to our winery in Funchal. Here, we controlled the fermentation with 1.8 Baumé fortification. The other part of the wine remained in the cellar, where it was fortified after complete fermentation to leave it in an extra-dry state. This wine was then transferred to a warehouse by the sea, where it remained until it was used in a 50/50 blend with Verdelho from our own warehouses. This blend of wines from different environments creates a balance.
